Athletic training and competition gives people with intellectual disabilities the chance to demonstrate to the world all they are capable of achieving. It provides a forum to compete not only in athletics but in life.

Currently, 15,500 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in South Carolina participate in over 190 competitions each year. Special Olympics offers a range of services, from motor activities training programs to Unified Sports®, addressing the needs of individuals at their current functional level. It is a valuable support system that recognizes differences and celebrates accomplishments. SO-SC offers athletic training in eight-week cycles and competition in 22 Olympic-style sports.
