Message From President & CEO

"Busy, busy..."

Anytime someone asks me "how are things going?", I seem to always reply "busy, busy."  I had someone ask me recently when is our slow time?  I responded 'Thanksgiving' but then I remembered that we participate in a Turkey Day Walk in Charleston on Thanksgiving Day.  At Special Olympics South Carolina (SOSC) we used to slow down a little in the summer and then the month of December.  I'm proud to say, not anymore.  As you look through our website's calendar of events thanks to our loyal volunteers and staff, you will see an array of incredible things going on at SOSC. National and state competitions, coaches training, small and large fund raisers - we even have an event on New Year's Day.

I am proud of the fact that we are so busy.  We have increased programs and fund raisers accordingly.  We offer more opportunities for our athletes than ever before.  That is because of people like you!  Donors, family members, coaches, volunteers, staff, board members and other supporters afford us the ability to grow our program.  Without your support, both financial and other, this wouldn't be possible.  As you go through your own busy lives, please remember SOSC in your plans.  Do us a favor and help keep SOSC "busy, busy."

Warmest Regards,
Barry S. Coats
President & CEO
